Main failure risks

The first risk is extrusion. Needle valves may operate under pressure, and if the seal does not have enough support, deformation or extrusion may occur near groove or clearance areas. The second risk is swelling. Some glue, solvent, or cleaning media may affect rubber or plastic materials. The third risk is friction and wear. During reciprocating movement, the seal material should balance low friction and wear resistance to support stable movement.

 

Material and structure directions

The handbook discusses filled PTFE and UPE as material directions for needle valve seals. Filled PTFE can be reviewed for swelling resistance, low friction, and chemical-media resistance. UPE can be reviewed for low friction and wear resistance.
